Maud Morgan Arts comprises a full arts program of classes and workshops for all ages, the Chandler Gallery, and a collection of original art by noted artist and community resident Maud Morgan (1903-1999). The agency works to reflect the diversity and talents of the community, bringing people together to make art, share art, and support visual arts education. Maud Morgan Arts is a program under the umbrella of the Agassiz Baldwin Community, a private non-profit organization that has provided quality programs and services in Cambridge for over 40 years.

Stories by Maud Morgan Arts

Artist Michèle Fandel Bonner sees every label affixed to our clothing as “a little graphic that someone designed hoping for attention.” Bonner’s wall hangings and sculpture made from what Bonner calls “the castoffs of daily life”—including cherry pits, champagne caps, wooden spools, and, of course, clothing labels—are on display at the Chandler Gallery in her upcoming show entitled “Piecework.” Bonner’s taliswomen dolls made from clothing labels won first prize in the Chandler Gallery’s “Small Works Salon 2015: Word + Image.”

Two of New England’s most generous artists got their chance to shine last month at Maud Morgan Arts. The Spirit Awards Benefit honored photographer and filmmaker Judith Larsen and printmaker H. Peik Larsen. The event featured Judith Larsen’s film, “EDGE 2 EDGE,” and a printmaking demonstration with Master Printer Robert Townsend. The Cambridge Arts Council, Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation, Lesley University, Speedball Art Materials, and Hammond Real Estate were among the many organizations and individuals who contributed to this event.
