Skate, bounce, and dance tonight 6/17 under the stars for free

Its summer time and the living, while not always easy, is more comfortable than dealing with foots of snow. Now, this past winter wasn’t the winter of 2015 with record snowfall, but did bring its annual challenges in terms of temperature. But as just as we recognize Memorial Day as the unofficial start of summer, there’s another signal of summer with numerous connections to the Cambridge and Boston area on the whole.

I am speaking about A Celebration of Summer III 2016. This amazing free rollerskating party was a creation of local djing school MMMMaven along with the City of Boston, located on Massachusetts Avenue in Central Square Cambridge.  It features a roller skating rink on Boston’s City Hall plaza complete with free skate rental, DJ Kon - a local area DJ who spins regularly at Middlesex Lounge in Cambridge, live art and interactive exhibits, as well as appearances by members of the late Donna Summer’s family.

Singer songwriter Donna Summer, for those who do not know, was born LaDonna Adrian Gaines and was raised in the Dorchester area of Boston, Massachuestts. She attended Dorchester’s Jeremiah Burke High School. She was an accomplished singer, multiple Grammy Award winner, Oscar winner, and in 2013 received induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She is widely referred to as the Queen of Disco worldwide.

Tonight from 6pm to 10pm, Boston’s City Hall Plaza becomes alive celebrating the music, life and love to a true Boston area original. For more information go to the event Facebook page: , the Donna Summer Fan Club website: or or Boston’s City Hall page

Grab your skates and lets roll under the stars for a local area star instead of slide on ice, there’ll be plenty of time to bundle up and do that.
