Cambridge Man: "Now I Want to be a Haitian American"

The following is an essay written by Listz Jean Toussaint, a student enrolled in a Level 4 ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) class at Cambridge Community Learning Center.

Before I moved to the United States, I thought is a new life, a new language and it will be American life . I heard is a beautiful place to live, free country and you can be what ever you want to be.It took me two years to adapt it the weather now it’s a second home for me.

After I moved to the United States, I thought everything is going to be a easy  for me. I have to learn the language, live as an American, learn the American culture. It’s a different life where are  from, quiet  life,I have everything now what are I am looking for before. For example,it’s a quiet life and less stress.

After living twenty eight years and seven months in the United States, my thoughts haven’t changed. Now I want to be an Haitian American. now I live, I eat and work as an American man. I have been bless by God and God bless America. For my retirement I will go back in Haiti for living there and that’s my dream for the  future.I love Haiti very much.
