Early Morning Blaze in Cambridgeport Damages Multiple Buildings

November 30th 2017 

An early morning fire broke out at 1AM on the corner of Auburn and Magazine streets destroying a multi unit apartment building at 22-24 Magazine St. and an historic building at 170-172 Auburn St and 166-168 Auburn St with several condominiums as well as housing the former studio of 19th century artist Washington Allston. About sixty people have been displaced due to fire damage. No one was hurt in the blaze. The Red Cross said that 13 people are in need of emergency assistance following the fire.  Fire crews from Somerville, Boston, Belmont, Brookline, Watertown, Arlington, Waltham, and Newton responded to the scene.
