City of Cambridge mayor Marc C. McGovern sat down for a brief interview Monday to discuss the 2018 City Dance Party at Cambridge’s City Hall. City Dance Party happens literally in front of Cambridge’s City Hall building with the abutting streets to city hall, i.e. Bigelow, Inman, Temple and Prospect Streets, closed off of Massachusetts Avenue. City Dance Party began 22 years ago in 1996 and has been getting bigger and better every year. Mayor McGovern expressed happiness at the event’s success. The party is a great party gathering symbol for Cambridge community and the best ushering in of the Summer season. Mayor McGovern outlined the event’s agenda saying the party is definitely a family friendly event. Party going parents would be best to attend on the earlier side as the crowd size increases as the evening progresses. Public transportation is also strongly encouraged as parking in the Central Square area is limited and there should be considerable traffic congestion. The number 1 MBTA Bus and Central Square T stops will be running and the best bet for attendees to get in and out of the square the quickest.
